Dear Friends and Colleagues,

It is our pleasure to invite you to the 12th International Symposium Endoskopie 2009 and the 7th EURO EUS Congress taking place in Berlin on April 30th – May 2nd 2009..

We are happy to provide you with an update on the entire spectrum of GI-endoscopy and its interface with gastroenterology as well as other disciplines, including two days of live demonstrations. A special highlight has always been Live Demonstrations by local and foreign experts which practically demonstrate you a wide variety of diagnostic and therapeutic techniques in the upper and lower GI-tract, the bile ducts and the pancreas. We are also glad that endoscopy nurses will join us among the chairpersons as well as in the audience since our cooperation has become increasingly important. The Symposium will start with highlights of the live demonstrations followed by a state-of-the-art-lecture and update discussions on the various fields of GI and pancreatobiliary endoscopy.

The 7th Euro EUS Congress will take place in Berlin, 1st and 2nd of May, 2009 in the unit of Prof Schulz. Endoscopic Ultrasound (EUS) has become an integrated part of modern gastrointestinal endoscopy. The thema of this 7th EURO-EUS meeting will be: „ENDOSCOPIC ULTRASOUND MEETS THERAPEUTIC ENDOSCOPY“.

One of the goals of the congress will be to show you the complementarity of EUS & therapeutic endoscopy as for endoscopic mucosal resection or before ERCP. On the other hand, therapeutic EUS offers an alternative to palliative surgery when conventional endoscopy failed. But, EUS guided procedures are difficult to master before the procedures can be integrated into clinical practice. Interventional EUS guided procedures as EUS guided neurolysis, EUS guided cysto-gastrostomy, EUS guided hepaticogastrostomy and EUS guided pancreaticobulbo or gastrostomy will be demonstrated.

We have invited worldwide experts on EUS, they will give state of the art lectures and will demonstrate the last developments of these technologies during the Live Demonstrations.
On behalf of the Scientific Committees, we would like to wish you a pleasant stay and a successful meeting in Berlin. We will try to provide you with an interesting and stimulating program and also entertain you in the beautiful host city.
With kind regards Prof. Dr. H.-J. Schulz Dr. M. Giovannini
